Steve Bannon Pleads Not Guilty to Fraud Charges, Released on Bond
Yesterday, President Trump’s former campaign adviser and white house chief strategist was arrested and indicted. Steve Bannon and three others stand accused of defrauding donors from a fundraising campaign they organized called “We Build the Wall”. Instead of all proceeds going towards the border wall as promised, it’s believed they pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars to afford their personal lifestyles. It’s reported Bannon was arrested while aboard a $28 million yacht owned by a Chinese billionaire who is one of China’s most wanted fugitives on charges of fraud, blackmail and bribery. Bannon has pled not guilty to his charges and was released yesterday afternoon on a $5 million bond. He was also forced to surrender his passport. When asked about the incident, President Trump said it was “very sad” but that he knew nothing other than he didn’t like the project when he read about it and made his opinion very clear. The president further added he didn’t know the other men who were charged.
