Body Found in Tidal Marsh of Cherry Grove Area Identified

A body discovered yesterday in the tidal marsh of the Cherry Grove area has been identified. The Horry County Coroner’s Office determined the deceased victim was 51-year-old Malinda Smith of Leesville. Her autopsy was scheduled for this morning but they believe her cause of death was an accidental drowning and do not suspect foul plat at this time. Smith was found in the water yesterday morning near the 6200 block of Nixon Street.
