Postmaster General Halts Changes to USPS Until After November Election

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has halted all internal changes within the service until after the November election. That means retail hours at post offices will not change, no more mail processing equipment and blue collection boxes will be removed, and all current mail processing facilities will remain open. This all comes as at least 20 democratic attorneys general across the country threaten to take legal action against DeJoy, accusing him of purposefully undermining mail-in voting in effort to aid President Trump in the election. Already, two lawsuits backed by numerous states were filed yesterday. The Postmaster General continues to reject their claims he acted outside his federal authority, saying the changes implemented over the last few weeks were meant to save them money. While he has halted plans for now, some believe it may be too late to reverse the “damage done” which has led to delays in mail nationwide.
