Two Formally Charged in Long-Unsolved Murder of Jam Master Jay

Two men have been charged in connection to the long-unsolved murder of Jam Master Jay. Jay was 1/3 of the hip hop group Run-DMC. Their hits included “It’s Tricky” and “Walk This Way” with Aerosmith. On October 30th, 2002, 37-year-old Jay was fatally shot in the head by a masked man while at a recording studio in Jamaica, Queens. He left behind a wife and three children and for 18 years, the identities of his killers remained a mystery until now. Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. have been formally charged with murder while engaged in narcotics trafficking and fire-arm related murder. Jordan also faces several counts of narcotics distribution. Washington is currently serving prison time for a series of robberies he committed. He has also been previously linked to the murder of Randy Walker, an associate of the late Tupac. Jordan was arraigned yesterday and plead not guilty. Washington’s arraignment is scheduled for later this week.
