Virtual Democratic National Convention Kicks Off Tonight

In lighter news, the Democratic National Convention is kicking off today in a very unconventional way. Due to the pandemic, two hours of prime time programming will be featured tonight through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Former Vice President Joe Biden will physically accept the nomination in Milwaukee, however there will be no crowds in attendance. Other than that, the majority of content, which is set to include a keynote speech from Michelle Obama tonight, is expected to be virtual.  Strict Covid-19 safety rules have also been implemented for all staff and media who will be working the event. This includes daily coronavirus testing, banning visits to bars and restaurants, and recommending the use of goggles and face shields in addition to masks when on site. President Trump’s Florida convention had been scrapped due to the massive out break in the state right now. He will accept his nomination in Charlotte, North Carolina as originally intended. Recent polls are showing that Biden still holds a lead over the president, however it seems to be tightening.
