President Trump Faces Retaliation Over USPS Emergency Funds Controversy

President Trump is receiving swift backlash after stating he doesn’t support emergency funding for the United States Postal Service. The service warned without that funding, millions of mail ballots may not arrive in time for the election. This comes during a year where a record breaking number of Americans are expected to vote by mail. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused the president of trying to “sabotage the election” in a letter released yesterday, adding he poses a threat to “American democracy”. She also called on the House of Representatives to return from recess this week for an emergency session to address the USPS issues. Furthermore, Pelosi and a number of other democrats have called for an investigation into the USPS. They’re demanding the Postmaster General and Chairman of the Postal Service Board of Governors testify in an “urgent” hearing concerning recent changes within the service that may be “jeopardizing the integrity of the election.” Finally, states such as Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia are considering taking legal action against the president over the issue.
