Wildfires Ravage Western States, Destroy Thousands of Acres of Land

Wildfires that span across three western states have destroyed more than 60,000 acres of land. In California at Lake Hughes in Los Angeles County, a fire broke out in the late afternoon. Over 400 firefighters responded to the scene. 10,000 acres have been burned and as of yesterday evening, it was 0% contained. Fire officials have reported it’s spreading rapidly and have warned several structures are in danger. They hope the weather conditions today will help provide a window to contain the fire before the forecast turns hotter and drier. In Oregon, evacuations have been declared in at least one county after 50 acres of land were consumed yesterday. And in Colorado, another wildfire that has destroyed more than 3,200 acres is also 0% contained. It has forced part of an interstate to shut down until further notice. Some communities are also under pre-evacuation warnings. Another wildfire less than 100 miles away that has also destroyed thousands of acres is 7% contained.
