CDC Director Warns of Worst Autumn in U.S. Public Health History
CDC Director Robert Redfield has issued a new warning on the coronavirus: follow recommendations or risk the worst autumn in U.S. public health history. He added “I’m not asking some of America to do it, we all gotta do it.” This comes just a few weeks after schools have begun to reopen. Already more than 2,000 students, teachers, and other staff are under quarantine across five states as several institutions suffer from outbreaks. The last four weeks have also seen an increase in child Covid-19 cases by 90%. President Trump has announced he will send 125 million face masks to schools across the nation. However, yesterday saw almost 1,500 deaths, the highest number since May. The U.S. is also averaging over 50,000 new cases a day. Doctor Redfield is encouraging, along with following safety guidelines, that every citizen get vaccinated. He says it will help combat the upcoming flu season which could have severe impacts on the country while the pandemic continues simultaneously.
