Air Force Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing After Being Shot At

One person is injured after a military helicopter was shot at while flying over Virginia. Earlier this week, two Air Force pilots from the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews were performing a routine training mission over Middleburg. While flying at an altitude of 1,000, they were fired at from the ground. The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing at the Manassas Regional Airport nearby. Upon inspection of the craft, they discovered a bullet in the airframe. It was confirmed only a single crew member sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. He was treated and released from the hospital. The FBI Washington Field Office and Air Force are now investigating and unable to provide any further details at this time. It’s unclear if the shooting was random or deliberate. Anyone who may have information is asked the call the FBI.
