Joe Biden Names Kamala Harris as his Vice Presidential Pick

Yesterday afternoon, Joe Biden made the long awaited announcement that he has chosen Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate. Biden said that “Harris is the best person to help me take this fight to Trump and Mike Pence and then to lead this nation.” The 55-year-old lawyer and politician dropped out of the presidential primary in December and endorsed Biden in March. His decision to name Harris as his vice president is historic in numerous ways, including the fact that she is the first black and south Asian American woman to run on a major presidential ticket. The two are set to make their first appearance together during a speech today in Delaware. President Trump said of the announcement that Harris was his “number one pick” for Biden. However, he added he was a little surprised, criticizing her “poor” primary performance. The president also said he thought Harris was “nasty” and “disrespectful” towards Biden during those debates. The Trump campaign has also accused Harris of being “too far left” for the democratic party.
