One Killed, Seven Seriously Injured After Natural Gas Explosion in Baltimore
The explosion that leveled three residential Baltimore homes yesterday morning left one person dead. The blast destroyed the three row houses and damaged a fourth. Other surrounding homes had their windows shattered. One adult female was confirmed dead on scene with at least seven more, some of which were children, trapped beneath the debris. Dozens of firefighters and rescue crews recovered the remaining victims and transported them to the hospital. All are reportedly suffering from serious injuries with at least one considered in critical condition. An extensive search for other possible survivors continued well into last night. It’s believed the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. However, the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. said no gas readings or leaks were found in any of the buildings. No gas odors were reported before the explosion, either. They said they would continue to inspect the area “and will make any necessary repairs if any issues are found.”
