South Carolina’s Tax Free Weekend Begins Today

South Carolina’s Tax Free Weekend begins today. The annual event which ends Sunday will allow you to purchase a variety of items without being charged with the state’s 6% sales tax or other local taxes. This includes an array of back-to-school essentials, clothes, shoes, computers and more. As long as the item is eligible, you can purchase it tax free both in person and online. If you decide to shop in person, you’re encouraged to wear masks, social distance, and practice other CDC safety guidelines. Items not exempt from the tax break include things such as jewelry, cosmetics, furniture, mattresses, cleaning supplies, cell phones and more.
