Social Media Companies Continue to Restrict President Trump’s Posts

Social media companies continue to restrict posts made by President Trump and his campaign. Yesterday, Facebook made the decision to remove a post from the president’s page. It included a video of the president claiming during an interview that children were “almost immune” to the virus. Facebook’s official statement said they removed it because “it’s a violation of our policies around harmful Covid misinformation.” This is not the first time Facebook has removed content from the president’s page, but it is the first time they’ve flagged him over COVID-19. Shortly after, Twitter also temporarily restricted the president’s campaign account for violating policies after it also shared the same video. The company said they would be unable to post again unless they removed the video they say also contained COVID-19 misinformation. A spokesperson for the Trump Campaign responded by saying the president was “stating a fact that children are less susceptible to the coronavirus” and accused Silicon Valley of being biased against him.
