Trump Campaign Sues State of Nevada Over New Mail-In Voting Bill
Mail-in voting remains to be a point of contention as the November election draws near. Shortly after the Governor of Nevada signed a bill that would allow for mail-in ballots to be sent to all registered voters, the Trump Campaign filed a lawsuit against them. They claim Assembly Bill 4 will undermine the election’s “integrity” and automatically sending mail-in ballots will result in fraud. The lawsuit specifically states, “Republicans have always supported efforts to make it easier for voters to cast their ballot. However, the electoral process cannot function properly if it lacks integrity and results in chaos.” In a surprise move and on the same day, President Trump also tweeted in support of mail-in voting in Florida. He wrote that Florida’s “election system is safe and secure, tried and true” and encouraged all residents to request mail-in ballots. He said he believes after many years, the state has cleaned up their voting system in order to avoid the potential fraud he believes will occur in Nevada. In other election news, it was just announced that Joe Biden will no longer travel to Wisconsin to accept the presidential nomination due to COVID-19.
