DHEC Reports Over 91,000 Total COVID-19 Cases Statewide

SC DHEC reported 1,110 new COVID-19 cases and 27 additional deaths yesterday. This now brings the statewide total to over 91,000 cases and just over 1,700 deaths. Greenville, Charleston, and Horry Counties remain to be the hardest hit across the state. Following CDC guidance, the South Carolina Department of Education announced face masks will now be required in all public schools. There will be exemptions that include children younger than 2 years old, anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious, and anyone incapacitated or unable to remove the face covering without assistance. The department also confirmed they would purchase and provide five cloth face masks for every teacher, bus driver, custodian and food service worker.
