Stolen Handgun, Birth Certificates, More Recovered During Traffic Stop

A Darlington County Deputy reportedly recovered a stolen gun and more during a traffic stop. In Hartsville yesterday morning, 25-year-old Austin Peterson from Cheraw was pulled over for a license violation. While searching the car, the deputy seized the stolen and loaded .45 caliber handgun. Multiple license plates, government identification cards, credit cards, social security cards and birth certificates were also found inside the vehicle. Peterson was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen pistol and more charges are possible.
