Ghislaine Maxwell Considered “Flight Risk,” Denied Bond

Yesterday, a New York judge denied bond for Jeffrey Epstein’s accused co-conspirator and ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. The 58-year-old plead not guilty to all of her charges of transporting a minor for the purposes of criminal sexual activity, conspiring to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, and perjury. Her attorneys wanted a five million dollar bail and home confinement with conditions, claiming she is not the monster the media is making her out to be. However, alleged Epstein victims who appeared in court were firm in saying Maxwell is a sexual predator like Epstein and poses a serious danger. The judge ultimately decided Maxwell’s pending trial, significant financial resources, international ties and “extraordinary capacity to avoid detection” made her a flight risk. They further added “no combination of conditions” could ensure Maxwell’s next appearance in court and denied her bail. Maxwell’s official trial was also set for July 12th, 2021.
