Authorities Confident They’ve Found Naya Rivera’s Body
Authorities believe the body recovered from Lake Piru in California yesterday is that of former “Glee” actress Naya Rivera. The medical examiner still needs to perform the official identification and autopsy before the news can be confirmed, however police say they are confident it’s Rivera and have notified her family. The 33-year-old actress was out on the lake in a rented pontoon boat with her 4-year-old son last Wednesday when she went missing. Her son was found drifting alone in the boat hours later. He told police they were swimming, adding he was able to get back in the boat but she wasn’t. Foul play or possible suicide has been ruled out as a cause of death. The Ventura County Sheriff said he believes they may have gotten caught in a current and the boat began drifting away. He suggested Rivera “mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself”. Her body was discovered floating in the northeast area of the lake where the water is between 35 and 60 feet deep.
