Supreme Court Delivers Four Major Rulings in Two Days
The U.S. Supreme Court settled two major cases yesterday and two more this morning. In a 7 to 2 ruling, the first case approved for the Trump Administration to expand contraception exemptions for employers to deny coverage on religious or moral objections. It’s predicted between 75,000 to 125,000 women could lose their coverage because of this. Also in a 7 to 2 ruling, the court decided religious institutions and schools have a first amendment right to select their employees and barred those employees from suing their employers under anti-discrimination law. Today, SCOTUS issued two more opinions which directly impact President Trump. The first blocked the House of Representatives from gaining access to his financial and banking records for now. It was sent it back to a lower court for further review. The second determined the president is not immune to being subpoenaed for his tax returns. However, the prosecutors seeking them right now will not receive them immediately.
