DHS Announces Creation of the Protecting American Communities Task Force
The Department of Homeland Security announced a new “American monuments, memorials and statues” protection task force. It’s reported The Protecting American Communities Task Force was created at the request of President Trump. Agencies being coordinated in the effort include the Federal Protective Service, U.S. Secret Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection and the Transportation Security Administration. This all comes after a series of statues, monuments and more were defaced, destroyed, or even removed by state and local officials. The force would allow law enforcement to protect any of the remaining “historic landmarks” believed to have racist connotations. Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, said they are going to be especially vigilant this 4th of July weekend. They believe there may be numerous potential threats carried out as protests continue across the U.S.
