Tulsa Officer Dies From Gunshot Wounds Following Traffic Stop

A Tulsa officer shot during a routine traffic stop has died from his injuries. Early Monday morning, Officer Aurash Zarkeshan was performing the stop on the suspect, 32-year-old David Ware. Sargeant Craig Johnson was called for backup. It’s reported Ware was driving on an expired license plate tag and a struggle ensued after he refused to get out of his vehicle. The officers used tasers and pepper spray on him unsuccessfully. Ware then pulled a gun from his car and fired it three times. Johnson was shot twice, then shot three more times after he was already lying on the ground. Ware fled on foot immediately after. Zarkeshan was only shot once and is expected to make a full recovery. Unfortunately, Johnson passed away yesterday afternoon. He is survived by his wife and two children. Both Ware and alleged accomplice, 29-year-old Matt Hall, were taken into custody. Ware faces first-degree murder, shooting with intent to kill and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony. Hall faces accessory to murder and accessory to a felony.
