35 U.S. States Report COVID-19 Spikes, Almost Half Halt Reopening Plans

Over 10 million COVID-19 cases have been confirmed worldwide with over 505,000 deaths. In the U.S., there are 2.64 million confirmed cases and over 128,000 deaths. At least 36 states are now seeing disturbing upward trends in cases. In response to the recent spikes, at least 16 states have either paused or rolled back their reopening plans in attempt to gain control of the virus again. Arizona, which has been hit particularly hard, is undergoing one of the strictest re-closures as bars, gyms, movie theaters and more are shut down for at least 30 days. The World Health Organization says the pandemic is far from over and is actually speeding up. They are sending out a team to China next week to hopefully better understand how the virus began. In the meantime, the European Union has just announced the majority of American tourists will be banned from traveling within their countries due to the recent spikes. That will go into effect today.
