Men Involved in Death the of Ahmaud Arbery Indicted

The three men involved in the death of Ahmaud Arbery were indicted yesterday. 25-year-old Arbery was killed on February 23rd while jogging in a Georgia neighborhood. 64-year-old Gregory McMichael and his son 34-year-old Travis thought Arbery looked like a suspect who committed a series of burglaries weeks prior, and attempted to perform a citizen’s arrest. The incident, which was caught on camera by the third suspect, William R. Bryan, showed the McMichael’s engage in a struggle with Arbery that resulted in him being shot multiple times and killed. The McMichaels were not arrested until two months after the fact, when the video went viral. Bryan’s arrest shortly followed. A preliminary trial revealed the McMichaels had a history of using racist rhetoric online and that Travis possibly called Arbery a racial slur after he was dead. Now all three men have been formally charged with malice and felony murder. They also face aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
