Wisconsin State Senator Allegedly Assaulted by Protesters

Protesters in Wisconsin allegedly attacked a democratic state senator last night while trying to topple controversial statues. Protests in the Madison area turned chaotic in response to the arrest of a black man named Devonere Johnson. It’s reported he was carrying a bat while speaking into a bullhorn as he walked inside and around the outside of a restaurant. He was charged with disorderly conduct while armed, resisting arrest and attempted escape after trying to outrun a squad car. This led to outrage from residents who in turn tore down two statues. One was of a union soldier which they threw into a lake. A statue outside the State Capitol was also targeted. Amidst all this, Senator Tim Carpenter from Milwaukee was attempting to take a photo of one of the incidents. He reported he was attacked and assaulted by about ten protesters for doing so and had to be taken away in an ambulance. Carpenter wrote on his Twitter that he sustained injuries to his head, face, neck and ribs and may have a possible concussion.
