Trump Rally in Tulsa Taking Place This Weekend Despite COVID-19 Concerns
It appears President Trump’s Tulsa rally is expected to take place this weekend, despite COVID-19 concerns. The rally, which was postponed to June 20th in honor of Juneteenth, has left numerous Tulsa Health Department officials wary. Recent statistics have shown Tulsa’s highest single-day increase of coronavirus occurred on Monday. Despite this, there are seemingly no protections in place for the event and Vice President Pence has suggested they may experience an overflow of attendees. The venue can hold around 20,000 people but the Trump campaign has claimed more than a million RSVPs have been made. Local lawyers attempted to sue the venue’s owners and block the event unless safety precautions were taken, or else risk not only infecting attendees, but the entire Tulsa community as well. However, the emergency motion was denied. One attorney on the lawsuit said this is not the end as they intend to bring the case before the Supreme Court.
