Coronavirus Cases in the U.S. Surpasses Two Million People
The number of Americans who have been infected with COVID-19 has now surpassed 2 million. On average, around 800 to 1,000 Americans are dying every day. Accompanying these new grim numbers, was yet another serious warning from health experts who predict if nothing changes, another 100,000 people will die from the virus by September. This is considerably higher than their previous predictions. It may be a result of recent protests, states loosening restrictions too quick, and failure from citizens to adhere to safety guidelines. As a result of the spikes in cases since Memorial Day, COVID-19 hospitalizations have also increased in almost two dozen states including California, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and more. Yesterday, North Carolina had a record-breaking number of hospitalizations. Arizona has also been told to activate their emergency procedures in preparation for the coming weeks. There are serious concerns hospitals in these states will become overwhelmed.
