Georgia Primary Rampant With Delay Issues, Investigation Called For
State and local leaders in Georgia are calling for an investigation into yesterday’s primary. After being postponed twice due to the pandemic, and in light of recent events, voters eagerly flocked to the polls only to be met with extremely delayed voting. People waited for hours in lines that snaked around entire blocks in order to cast their ballots. In at least 8 counties, voting was extended by as much as three hours. And it appeared those voting primarily in the populous Atlanta area were met with the major issues. State election officials blame the issues on in-experienced election workers, a high volume of absentee ballots, new equipment which was malfunctioning, as well as problems with maintaining health safety guidelines. However, rampant voting problems appear to be a reoccurring pattern in the peach state. Now, state and local leaders are calling for an investigation into possible voter suppression.
