Six Atlanta Officers Charged for Using Excessive Force
Georgia officers will face legal charges after using excessive force on two college students. Messiah Young and Taniyah Pilgrim were on their way home after protesting in Atlanta on Saturday night when they were pulled over. Police body cams, as well as by-standers, filmed the officers forcefully removing the two from the vehicle, which included breaking their car windows and tasing them multiple times. In a police report, one of the officers claimed he used the taser because we was unsure if the two students were armed. When Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms got wind of the situation, she was extremely disturbed. She ordered the charges be dropped against the victims and two officers were fired immediately. Now, arrest warrants have been issued for all six who were involved, including the two who were terminated. They are charged with aggravated assault of Young and Pilgrim, simple battery and criminal damage to property. They have until Friday night to surrender themselves.
