Presidential Primaries Held Yesterday Resulted in Major Changes

Yesterday, eight states and the District of Columbia held primaries and this week’s recent events appear to have had a huge impact. In Iowa, nine-term Congressman Steve King lost his republican primary race to Randy Feenstra. King has come under fire in recent years after making multiple racist and other controversial comments that led to him being stripped of his committee assignments and essentially ostracized in Washington. In his concession speech, King blamed his loss due to efforts by anti-Trumpers, other republican leaders with a vendetta against him, and the media which he says “mischaracterized” him. In Ferguson, Missouri which was the city where a white police officer shot and killed unarmed teenager Michael Brown in 2014, they have elected Ella Jones, who’s not only their first female, but also their first black mayor. She was also the first African-American female to become a member of the city council in 2015. As for the rest of the states who participated in the democratic presidential primaries, it appears Joe Biden is projected to win all of them.
