Less Violence, Looting Reported on 8th Straight Day of Protests in U.S.
Yesterday marked the 8th straight day of protests and unrest in the U.S. Thankfully, last night did not see nearly as much chaos, destruction and looting. This could be attributed to increased police presence in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Atlanta, and more. However, the majority of unprecedented curfews set were not adhered to as thousands gathered in the streets to peacefully protest well beyond those curfews. There was one tense moment in particular between police and protesters on the Manhattan Bridge but it ended without incident. The mother of George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter Gianna spoke yesterday and gave an emotional plea for justice. She also discussed all Gianna’s major life achievements that he will now miss out on. She said “he was good and this is the proof that he was a good man.” In other countries including France, Italy, Australia and more, people have also taken to the streets in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
