Twitter Fact-Checks President Trump’s Tweets on Mail-In Voting

Trump

For the first time ever, President Trump’s tweets were labeled as misleading. It all began with a tweet where he insinuated Joe Scarborough was involved in the death of one of his staffers, Lori Klausutis, in 2001. Klausutis died as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition and this conspiracy theory has been repeatedly discredited. A letter written by Lori’s husband, Timothy, to the CEO of twitter implored them to remove the insensitive, and false tweets. The company has decided not to delete them. However, two of the president’s tweets regarding mail-in voting were flagged yesterday as potentially misleading and “discouraged people from voting”. A fact check page was also linked below. Many believe twitter did not go far enough. They argue they should have been more explicit in their intentions or even used a bigger, more obvious font.
