Weather permitting, today is set to be a historic day for NASA and SpaceX. Two NASA astronauts are expected to be launched to the International Space Station as part of a mission called “Demo-2”. This has been almost a decade in the making and will mark the first time SpaceX has sent humans into earth’s orbit. It is set to take place at 4:33 PM today at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. The rocket will take off from pad 39A which has also been the site of other famous missions, including the moon landing in 1969. However, the weather may have other plans for NASA and SpaceX’s launch as tropical storm Bertha moves closer towards the coast. If the heavy rains and winds force the mission to halt, it will be postponed to either May 30th or May 31st. The weather will be monitored up until 45 minutes before the launch which is when they will make the official call.
