Darlington Mayor Threatens Legal Action Against SCDOT Over Sinkholes
Darlington’s mayor is threatening to take legal action against the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Mayor Curtis Boyd says he’s extremely frustrated over the fact they are constantly closing or blocking off roads due to sinkholes and yesterday a police chief nearly fell into one. Boyd said he doesn’t know who to blame exactly, but has asked the SCDOT a number of times to rectify the situation. The SCDOT said the problem is caused by old pipes but they declined to give a timeline or projected cost for repairs or replacements of the pipes and roads.
