Early Results From COVID-19 Vaccine Trials Look Positive

Early results from Moderna’s vaccine trial is showing positive signs. Phase one of the clinical trial has only been performed on a small group of volunteers and results have not been peer reviewed or published in a medical journal. But the American biotech company reported they vaccinated dozens of patients and out of eight randomly tested, they all developed neutralizing antibodies. The company said if they continue to see results such as these, a vaccine could become available by January. The FDA has cleared the company to begin phase two of the trials, which will include several hundred participants. They hope to move onto phase three by July which will include large-scale clinical trials involving tens of thousands of people. Moderna is just one of eight developers worldwide that are currently testing vaccines in human clinical trials.
