More than 300,000 People Killed by COVID-19 Worldwide

Worldwide there are more than 4.4 million cases of COVID-19 with the death toll surpassing 300,000 last night. The U.S. remains to be the most impacted country by far in the world with nearly 1.5 million cases alone and about 87,000 deaths. These numbers and new studies have led top world health officials to believe the coronavirus may become an endemic, joining a mix of virus’ that annually kill people across the globe. Examples of other endemic diseases include chicken pox, malaria, and in some parts of the world, HIV. As a result of this news, some doctors are shifting their focus from trying to completely eliminate the disease to reducing infection risks instead, especially as parts of the U.S. have already begun to reopen. A large part of reducing risk will be allowing for everyone to get tested. It will help identify cases, trace its origins, and stop further spread before it gets out of control.
