CDC Warns of Mysterious Childhood Illness Linked to COVID-19
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a new warning regarding the mysterious childhood illness that has been linked to COVID-19. Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome, or MIS-C, has been recorded in children across Europe and at least 18 U.S. states since April. At first, health experts thought it may be Kawasaki disease, which is a a rare, inflammatory condition that usually affects major arteries and the heart. However, there were too many reported cases. It was later discovered most children who contracted this disease either have or had COVID-19. There is still not much known about this new inflammatory disease, how to treat it, or possible long-lasting negative effects. However it has been reported that it is rarely fatal. The CDC has said to look out for symptoms in children that include: fever, rash, abdominal pain, vomiting, and swelling of the hands and feet.
