Michael Flynn Could Still be Sentenced for Perjury

A judge is considering holding Michael Flynn in contempt of court for perjury. This comes less than a week after the Justice Department announced they wanted to drop all charges against President Trump’s former national security adviser. A retired U.S. judge, Emmet Sullivan, suggested Flynn could still be sentenced, regardless of the DOJ’s decisions, for perjury after Flynn said under oath he was both “guilty and innocent of lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia during the Trump transition”. This comes as exciting news to those who are highly critical of Attorney General William Barr’s move to dismiss the case. Sixteen former Watergate prosecutors personally urged the judge not to dismiss the case. Almost 2,000 former Justice Department employees have also voiced their opinions on the issue by signing a formal letter to Barr in which they rejected his actions.
