Dr. Fauci Issues New Warnings About Pandemic During Senate Testimony
During the remote senate hearing yesterday, Dr. Anthony Fauci issued a new grave warning for the U.S. He was somber but candid regarding his thoughts on President Trump’s response to the pandemic but his words did strongly contradict that of the president’s. Fauci has always maintained opening up too quickly could have disastrous consequences. Now, he is saying states who reopen too soon and are unable to manage the inevitable increase in cases will not only further suffer more deaths and economic hardships, but that there is a potential they may never be able to fully recover. Fauci also added it was a “bridge too far” for schools to expect a vaccine to be developed in time for the fall semester. It was a statement the public university California school system has taken seriously. Last night they announced their ten campuses, consisting of over 770,000 students, don’t plan to resume in-person lessons in the fall.
