FAA Investigates Deceased Victim Discovered on Texas Airport Runway
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the death of a man who was hit by an aircraft. The incident occurred at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas late last night. Initially the pilot of southwest airlines flight 1392 reported seeing a person on the runway shortly after landing and had maneuvered the aircraft to avoid them. It wasn’t long after that the driver of an airport operations vehicle discovered the deceased victim on the runway. It’s been confirmed the person killed was not dressed as an airport worker and had no identification on them. At this point in time it is assumed the victim did not have authorization to be on the runway. The incident remains under investigation. As of early this morning the scene has been cleared and the runway reopened with operations expected to resume as scheduled.
