President Trump to Suspend Immigration to U.S.

In a shocking announcement, President Trump said he would temporarily suspend immigration. The president shared the news via Twitter late last night where he wrote, “In light of the attack from the invisible enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our great american citizens, I will be signing an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” It’s unclear exactly how he intends to do this or how long the suspension will last. It’s also unclear how this new policy will affect those who presently hold green cards. This is one of dozens of instances of the Trump Administration using the pandemic to their advantage to pass the stricter immigration policies they couldn’t get through before. In the span of a month they’ve postponed immigration hearings, visas, and citizenship ceremonies. They’ve also canceled deportation flights, and paused refugee admissions.
