Coronavirus Response Leaves U.S. Citizens Divided

Tensions continue to rise in the U.S. as protesters increase pressures to reopen the country. Not only do they want the economy running again, but they also feel their constitutional rights are being impeded. Thousands gathered throughout the country this weekend to make their demands clear. Multiple groups have also promised to continue protesting unless changes are made. Meanwhile, the virus continues to spread at an exponential rate. Cases worldwide have reached 2.4 million, with the U.S. remaining to be the hardest hit country at over 768,000 confirmed cases and almost 41,300 deaths. Yesterday, President Trump claimed millions of Americans are being tested everyday when the number is actually closer to 150,000. He has utilized the defense production act to increase the manufacturing of swabs which are essential to most testing procedures. However, he has made it clear he believes testing is a “local matter” and has designated that issue to state governors.
