President Proposes Loose Guidelines for States to Reopen
Tentative plans to reopen the U.S. and its economy have been proposed as protests erupted across the nation yesterday. Americans increasingly grow restless as an end to the pandemic appears to be nowhere in sight. So President Trump released new “guidelines” yesterday that provides a loose framework for when states can reopen. They must see a decrease in cases over a 14 day period and hospitals must return to pre- crisis conditions. However, it’s stressed these are guidelines. Every state has been impacted differently. The president said, ultimately, the decision is up to the state governor’s. Seven mid-western states have formed yet another regional coalition and more guidelines of their own. Recently, states on the east and west coast formed similar pacts. Now, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky are working closely together to reopen their economies. They’re prioritizing the safety of their residents but want to be proactive about recovery.
