Some Stimulus Checks Come With Unforeseen Issues

When the 2.2 trillion dollar stimulus relief bill was passed back in March, congress did not anticipate several issues. For many, this stimulus money could make the difference between paying bills or becoming homeless. Currently, 22 million people are out of work. However, the relief plan does not stop private collectors from immediately seizing that money from those who need it most. It’s estimated that at least 33% of Americans are in debt. Furthermore, there are reports of stimulus payments going to deceased people’s bank accounts. Several social media posts have gone viral of people receiving notifications their deceased family members, some as far back as 2018, have received their stimulus money. Now they’re wondering what to do about the error. Spending other people’s money is illegal by law, but with so many out of work, they are desperate to keep it.
