Deadly Tornadoes Tear Through South

A series of deadly tornadoes tore through the south yesterday and left much destruction in their wake. In Mississippi and Louisiana, dozens of tornadoes, large hail, and flash flooding destroyed hundreds of homes and other structures and claimed the lives of at least 17 people. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center said they received close to 50 reports of severe storms. One tornado in Mississippi alone traveled nearly 100 miles. The storms then made there way through Georgia and the Carolinas before heading north. News of the tornadoes during the pandemic have been particularly hard. With hundreds of homes destroyed, many are unsure how they will practice stay-at-home orders. Shelters are asked to take in as many people as possible while reasonably maintaining social distancing orders. This will prove to be extremely difficult and possibly dangerous.
