Multiple Citations Given First Full Day of “Home or Work” Order

Horry County Police reported multiple violations on the first full day the “home or work” order went into effect. At least 5 citations and 37 warnings were issued to people violating beach access restrictions which went into effect last week. Multiple other warnings were also given to golf cart drivers who were caught socializing or just driving around aimlessly. Local law enforcement said, “the fact of the matter is that COVID-19 is in our community. Around the world, people are dying from complications of the disease. Think about that—is a joyride really worth the risk?” South Carolina presently has over 2,500 cases and 63 deaths. North Carolina has reported more than 3,500 cases and also 63 deaths.
