Hundreds of Washington State Prisoners Stage Riot

Hundreds of Washington state inmates staged a riot last night after they were informed six inmates tested positive for coronavirus. The Monroe Correctional Complex presently houses 360 inmates. Earlier yesterday they were informed six of them had contracted COVID-19. They were told the prisoners were isolated and receiving medical care, however news of a possible outbreak in the facility sparked major outraged from “multiple parts of the complex”. Upwards of 200 prisoners began to riot. They threatened to take hostages and start fires. The exact motive behind the riot was not immediately clear. We don’t know if they demanded to be released, individually tested, or receive better hygiene products or living conditions. The situation is now under control and both the minimum and maximum security units were evacuated. Luckily no one was injured, but several dozen inmates were seen handcuffed in fields outside.
