Furloughed Employees Can Now Receive Unemployment Benefits
Some good news for furloughed South Carolina workers as Governor McMaster’s latest order allows for you to file for unemployment. The order signed yesterday says employees can still receive” “COVID-19 support payments” while remaining eligible for unemployment benefits. This new order comes just as Horry county alone reports over 10,000 more people filed for unemployment last week. That’s over a 31% increase from the week prior. The governor said, “Every day, our primary objective is to protect South Carolinians, but we also must act to protect the state’s economy. This order does both.”
