Glenn Fine Removed From Position by President Trump
Yesterday, Acting Inspector General for the Defense Department, Glenn Fine, was removed from his position by President Trump. The abrupt announcement has made many Americans uneasy as Fine was named Chair to the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee by a group of federal watchdogs. He was in charge of overseeing the recently approved $2 trillion emergency stimulus package and preventing any “waste, fraud, and abuse”. For the time being, Inspector General at the Environmental Protection Agency, Sean O’Donnell was nominated by the president to replace fine. The reasoning behind fine’s removal was not made immediately clear but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes the president is abusing his power for politically and personally motivated reasons. She suggested Fine was removed so the president could bring in more of “his loyalists” in order to gain control of the stimulus package.
