Maeve Kennedy McKean Found Dead
The body of Maeve Kennedy McKean, granddaughter of former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, has been found. 41-year-old McKean and her 8-year-old son Gideon were last seen Thursday evening. The two were self-quarantining at a family home on the Chesapeake Bay along with her husband and two other young children. McKean and Gideon were playing kickball in the backyard when the ball accidentally fell into a nearby river. The two got into a canoe to retrieve the ball but somehow the boat was pulled out into the open bay where it capsized. McKean’s body was discovered by a team of divers 26 hours after they went missing. She was found in 25 feet of water almost 2.5 miles away from where she was last seen. It’s believed strong winds and waves caused the canoe to over turn and made it impossible for McKean and Gideon to swim back to shore. Gideon’s body has not been found, but he is presumed dead, as well.
