Governor McMaster Orders All Non-Essential Businesses Close

DHEC has reported the number of coronavirus cases in South Carolina has surpassed 1,000 with 22 deaths. Yesterday evening, Governor Henry McMaster ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses for the next 15 days. The order goes into effect at 5 PM today and encompasses entertainment, athletic, and close contact service facilities. Unless notified, all other businesses may remain open. The public safety alert was issued last night and actually crashed the South Carolina Emergency Management Division’s website. 2,340,000 users visited the site in under an hour which is reported to be ten times more “than any incident it has ever been activated for, including hurricanes.”
